Surgery is also possible: Gladbach goalkeeper Omlin is out for the time being

Status: 08/31/2023 6:24 p.m

Borussia Mönchengladbach has to do without first-choice goalkeeper Jonas Omlin for the time being. The Swiss is again complaining about shoulder problems and is at least unavailable for the top game against Bayern Munich on Saturday (September 2nd, 2023, 6:30 p.m.).

An operation by the captain is also not out of the question, as emerged from the Gladbach press conference on Thursday. “Jonas injured himself yesterday at the end of training. Now we have to find out what the injury looks like in order to then make a good decision as to whether we need to treat it conservatively or have an operation,” said coach Gerardo Seoane.

Seoane did not reveal who will be in goal against Bayern, Jan Olschowsky, Moritz Nicolas and Tobias Sippel are available. Meanwhile, Julian Weigl will assume the captaincy of Borussia.

shoulder problems Omlins drag

Omlin has been suffering from shoulder problems for some time, so he had to be substituted at half-time in pre-season against Montpellier.

“There are complaints that accompany him. We have to be careful, even with the stresses,” Seoane said recently. Omlin had conceded seven goals in the first two Bundesliga matchdays. The goalkeeper had not been nominated for the Swiss national team on Wednesday.
