In front of the house on the Almhof in Den Bosch, where on Monday morning an explosive went off, a broom and a bucket full of glass shards are at the door a few hours later. With the help of her two sons, the resident (66) cleans up the last glass fragments. “I hope they get the perpetrator quickly,” she says. “It’s not going so well for a while, I really have to have a rest and recover from everything.”
At the time of the explosion, the resident was at home and awake: “I am always up early and the potatoes were peeling.” Her sons are relieved that their mother remained unharmed: “Suppose my mother had stood behind the front door? Then she might have lost her legs,” says one of them.
The window next to the front door of the house on the Almhof was killed and the doorpost is also damaged. The explosion happened a little after six. The police have announced that one of the sons of the resident would be the roofer. One of them was also at the door on Monday morning.
Attacks at roofers
Cars, vans and houses of roofers in Den Bosch were more often the target of explosions and arson in the past year. Research by Omroep Brabant showed that at least 29 attacks took place since the summer of 2024.
In October 2024, the conflict reached a boiling point with at least ten attacks. After February it seemed calm for a few months, but since July a number of attacks on a car and a delivery van from a roofer.
A roofer previously opened a booklet opposite Omroep Brabant and described the roofing world as ‘the underworld’. It would all be about finished customers and conflicts in the criminal environment. Several suspects have now been arrested in connection with the roofing war.
The men themselves indicate that they are both not a roofer. “I have a DIY company and my brother is a plumber. We have no fight with anyone, whoever did this is also a mystery to us. This must have been a mistake,” says one of the two sons.
Also for the resident it is a mystery who tried to blow her front door: “At least I know for sure that my sons have nothing to do with this, they have never been in contact with the police.” The two remain close to their mother today: “It is now, but she was very upset.”
