Superorganism release another single from their new album WORLD WIDE POP, “It’s Raining”. The single is a collaboration with Pavement singer Stephen Malkmus and rapper Dylan Cartlidge.

“It’s Raining” is a hip-hop track with a bass-heavy beat, a jumble of synths and a Scott Walker sample that grows together with full force. The single already has a music video directed by AEVA with illustrations by Risa Kazama. The video features an anthropomorphic raindrop gliding along with the grooving passengers of a bullet train. In a statement, Superorganism explained the background to “It’s Raining”: “We’ve always been big fans of Stephen Malkmus and loved the idea of combining Malkmus and Scott Walker into a weird, almost broken-sounding hip-hop track,” the group said . “We had done a remix for Dylan Cartlidge and absolutely loved his flow; We asked him if he would like to try out a verse, and of course he agreed. Dylan is from the north of England and Stephen is from Portland so the rain theme is all the more fitting for them too.”

It’s Raining is the second pre-release single from Superorganism’s new album. The band previously shared the song “Teenager”. WORLD WIDE POP is scheduled for release on July 15th.

In September, Superorganism also want to go on a world tour. The tour is scheduled to start on September 3rd in the Dutch city of Nijmegen and will then make stops in Amsterdam, Berlin and Paris before concluding in London on September 21st. After that, Superorganism will continue their tour in North America. Tickets for the concerts are available here.
