You have fans and you have super fans. When it comes to Bruce Springsteen, Liselotte Schüren (36) from Zuidlaren is definitely belonged to the latter category. Yesterday she saw her music hero perform for the thirtieth (!) Time. And the icing on the cake? A hug of The Boss himself.

Schüren was there yesterday in Berlin, together with 65,000 other fans. “I had a good place,” she says with a sense of understatement. The Springsteen fan had made a sign with the text on it 30 shows, time for a hug.

At Concerts van Springsteen you see many signs with requests or groceries for the musician. Schüren also decided to make one. “I actually find that a bit difficult to do, because you are a sober northern person,” she says on Radio Drenthe. “You think: should that be? But I also thought: if I don’t do it, it won’t happen anyway.”

And then during the concert it is hope that you will be noticed. You are not without a chance in advance, because Springsteen is looking for a lot of contact with his fans during his shows. “He went down the stage yesterday and walked down, to the first rows,” Schüren describes. “I kept the sign over the railing and he saw that. Then he took the time to give me a hug.”

That will undoubtedly have been a dirty, sweaty hug. Or not? “He actually smelled very nice,” laughs Schüren. “He always gives three -hour marathon shows, so then you expect a sweat odor, but he still smelled fresh.”

Incidentally, it was not the first time that Schüren had contact with Bruce Springsteen. “I was allowed to dance with him on Pinkpop in 2009 and in America I also met him. Oh, and I also got three kisses from him at another concert in America.” How does that always work? “I don’t do very crazy things, so it’s also a dose of happiness.”

Concert number 31 is also planned. At the end of this month she will be there as The Boss In Gelsenkirchen. Schüren does not take a sign. “No, you can be very satisfied,” she concludes.
