Sunday silent protest against judgment Sanda Dia in Bruges, Dalila Hermans will give a speech

Sanda Dia died after an intense baptism ritual. The shafts had to perform all kinds of tasks, including drinking excessive amounts of fish sauce. Dia ended up in the hospital and died shortly afterwards. The fact that 18 members of the student club have been found guilty, but get away with community service and a fine has gone down the wrong way with many people.

BUAR (Bruges United Against Racism), Campagne Rosa and Actief Linkse Studenten & Scholen are now planning a silent protest. “We are shocked, indignant and angry. That is why we will gather on the Burg on Sunday.”

Dalila Hermans, among others, has been announced as a speaker. Hermans herself was recently in the eye of the storm after her appointment as the leader of Bruges’ candidacy as European Capital of Culture. This led, among other things, to racist hate messages. Vlaams Belang even filed a complaint against her appointment, which was also admissible: an investigation into her appointment is now underway.
