In Drenthe and the rest of the country, code Geel applies on Sunday afternoon and evening. Heavy thunderstorms then pull from the southwest to the northeast.
The showers can be accompanied by hail and gusts of wind of 60 kilometers per hour. Localally, 30 millimeters of rain can fall within an hour. The KNMI warns of local flooding or breaking branches due to a temporarily rapidly increasing wind.
“Sunday starts with sunny periods. The temperature rises to around 26 degrees and it feels a bit sultry,” looks RTV Drenthe-Weerman Gert Voerman Vooruit. “But in the afternoon and evening, strong thunderstorms will pass.”
“That cover is something to keep an eye on. It can rain firmly in various places, with a thunderstorm,” Voerman expects. “That can turn out violently.”
