Sufjan Stevens announces new album JAVELIN for October

The 10-track LP will be released on October 6th — complete with art and essays created by Stevens himself.

Sufjan Stevens has announced a new album. JAVELIN contains ten songs and will be available from October 6th. It is the artist’s first solo album since 2020’s THE ASCENSION and draws on the singer-songwriter sounds that Stevens developed with CARRIE & LOWELL in 2015. You can already listen to the pre-single “So You Are Tired” including the lyric video.

The record was almost entirely produced by Stevens at home, with contributions from friends and a closing number written by Neil Young. Physical copies are accompanied by a 48-page book of art and essays by Stevens’ own hand.
