Criticism of the microblogging service X is growing. X user Paul Grahamwho has nearly two million followers, complained in his Sunday tweet that “Twitter’s biggest flaw” is the (lower) prioritization of posts containing links.

The owner of the service, Elon Musk, responded to Graham’s tweet, writing “Just write a description in the opening message and put a link in the reply.”

About it with news By mediating Musk’s comment is in line with X’s previous guidelines, which encourage users to post videos and other content directly to their tweets instead of linking to sites outside the service.

The instruction seems to be X’s goal to increase users’ commitment to the service and, at the same time, an effort to curb their departure from the platform. However, Musk’s comment on Sunday returns to discussions his previous activity on the platform of venting personal grudges and sharing his own narratives.

The discussion sparked by Musk’s comment coincides with the same time when the European media in particular have reported their concerns and initiated legal action against X, accusing it of enabling disinformation and sharing harmful content.

X’s opposition grew even more when major players like The Guardian announced they were leaving the service. The reason for their departure was that X had become “toxic” and on the other hand they strongly criticized Musk’s increased influence.

An investigation prepared by the Washington Post in August of last year revealed that X had set delays to links leading to Facebook, Bluesky and, for example, The New York Times.

The New York Times, on the other hand, raised its concerns about the pressure on news organizations, which is applied for unclear reasons.
