Omroep MAX will broadcast the successful theater show ‘En door!?’ at the end of May. by the Schijndel comedienne Christel de Laat. It is the first time that a performance by De Laat will be shown on national TV. “This is some cool shit!”
“Until now, it was always Omroep Brabant that broadcast my shows and now I will soon be on Nederland 1,” the comedian responds with her characteristic enthusiasm. She explains: “Broadcast time is extremely valuable. Channels have to make hard choices about what they broadcast. The fact that they choose me, on a Saturday evening around half past nine, is really a privilege. I feel grateful that MAX approached me. This channel also suits me perfectly, I love their programs and my performance also fits in with that.”
The title of the performance, ‘And on!?’, is a life motto of De Laat, who chose the theater profession at the age of fifty. It drove her forward for years: don’t meow, don’t stand still, life doesn’t wait and the sun rises for nothing. Until the moment when, while lying in the gynecologist’s office, she suddenly realized that standing still more often might be better. In ‘And on!?’ does that new reality collide with her old reflex to keep running.
