Substitute Van den Heerik again gave Telstar the win with a late goal

It was extremely difficult, but the second victory for Telstar this season is a fact. Zakaria Eddahchouri made it 1-0 quickly, after which Dailon Livramenoto equalized just before the end. Fortunately, Quinten van den Heerik was still there, as a substitute he helped the White Lions win.

Telstar’s intentions were clear from the first moment. Those aspirations were rewarded after ten minutes through Zakaria Eddahchouri. The attacker scored from a cross from Alex Plat: 1-0. The White Lions were already dangerous before that via Eddahchouri (shot at goalkeeper Romain Matthys) and Danzell Gravenberch (shot well wide). The opening goal turned out to be the starting signal for a lively opening phase.

Joey Houweling, still the goalie in the absence of the injured Ronald Koeman Jr., proved his worth with a great save from close range. Moments later, Houweling pushed a dangerous effort onto the post next to him. It was the advancing Cain Seedorf who caused a lot of danger on the other side. His first opportunity from a promising position ended up on Matthys and his second ended on the wrong side of the post. The same fate was for Tom Overtoom with a long shot.

Matte start

As exciting as the first half started, the start of the second was dull. Telstar created the first danger after fifteen minutes via Seedorf. The busy right back was able to deliver the ball better twice in quick succession, but focused on his own success. The Velsen team then remained much stronger than MVV. However, the sights turned out not to be sharp.

Due to the small margin of one goal, it remained unnecessarily tense until the end. Telstar was much better, but left MVV alive by missing opportunities. A telling example was in minute 82. An excess of Telstar players rushed towards MVV’s goal, yet the ball ended up high. The proverbial lid still came in the final phase. Substitute Dailon Livramento scored easily: 1-1.

Van den Heerik

Yet the men of trainer Mike Snoei continued to believe in it. And that belief ultimately led to three points, because for the second time this season it was Quinten van den Heerik who scored the winning goal. Two weeks ago, the goal thief did it in injury time against Jong Ajax. And now Van den Heerik scored the 2-1 against MVV in the 93rd minute.

The win means Telstar rises to eighteenth place in the rankings. The next match for the Witte Leeuwen is Friday in Breda against NAC. NH Sport will of course be there and report live on the radio.

Telstar setup: Pickaxe; Seedorf (Polley/85), Apau, Soares, Koswal (Boussakou/71), Soares, Peat Cruiser; Augustijns, Overtoom (Bouyaghlafen/84), Plat (Van de Loo/71); Eddahchouri, Gravenberch (Van den Heerik/65)
