More than 450 animal holders are interested in a wolf -resistant grid. Since the opening of a new subsidy round by the province of Drenthe, they have requested advice on this from a wolven consultant. That is the first step in the procedure to apply for a subsidy.

The province has therefore increased the subsidy amount that is available for this by 600,000 euros. This is necessary to be able to pay for all current and new applications for a wolven grid. This brings the total amount available for this at 1,165,000 euros.

According to the province, animal holders demand ‘massive’ support to better protect their animals against the wolf. “I understand how worrying it is when the safety of animals is at stake,” says deputy Egbert van Dijk (BBB). “We would like to see Drenthe remain a place where people and animals can live safely. Because we are not (yet) allowed to take measures against nuisance wolves, it is now important that we learn to live together with the wolf.”

He likes to see that so many animal holders are taking action. “By properly informing and supporting animal holders in taking preventive measures, such as wolf -resistant rasters, we offer concrete help.”
