Stutterers not welcome at every employer: ‘Kitchen technician comes into direct contact with people’

Author Steven de Jong (43) has stuttered since he was four. He knows from his own experience what prejudices prevail about stuttering and their suitability for work. De Jong conducted research into how Dutch companies view stutterers. Not very positive, as it turned out. Even institutions such as the UWV and the court are not open to candidates who stutter, even for positions that do not require them to speak in public.
