The only 17 -year -old Gout Gout caused a sensation at the Australian championships. In the 100-meter run, the student sprinted twice below the magical ten-second mark-even if the times were not officially evaluated due to too strong tailwinds.
In the lead, Gout qualified with 9.99 seconds for the final of the U20 category-and repeated the time there again on the way to the title. “That’s exactly what I hoped for,” he said after the race. He didn’t get the desired start, but he concentrated on the essentials. “I couldn’t be happier,” said Gout.
