Stuart Price: With Madonna “it’s all live singing!”

The music producer explains why it makes him proud when fans question the performance.

On October 14th, Madonna started her “The Celebration” tour in London and, despite a few minor glitches, impressed with her performance. Stuart Price, the music producer of Madonna’s album “Confessions on a Dancefloor”, is there in the background and is responsible for planning the concert. In a conversation with Billboard he gives some insights into the tour and says: “It’s all live singing”.

Responding to the interviewer’s comment that Madonna’s voice sounded impressive in her song “Ray of Light,” Stuart Price explained why: “When constructing the show, the question at the forefront has to be: Can we create something that’s fun to perform? Can we do something that makes you feel safe? The main reason for this is that it’s about the singing.” He continues: “Giving the singer the platform to sing and be herself is the ultimate goal. All of these things are aimed at: Does Madonna feel like she can hold the mic and really give it her all and deliver?

Some fans had already doubted her singing and suspected that it could be a playback. For Price, such comments are less of an insult and more of a nice thing to hear: “For me that’s the biggest compliment because it’s all live singing.” The producer adds: “There are a few spoken word sections in the show where we just use tracks. But it’s all live singing. There are backing singers – there always have been – but it’s all live singing. I hope that you also feel the humanity of the singing.”

While the “Queen of Pop” tour has just started and there are still many shows coming up for her, fans are already speculating about possible further appearances by Madonna. Emily Evans, a co-organizer of the Glastonbury Festival, posted a picture of Madonna on her Instagram page at the start of the “Celebration” tour. Fans commented on their guesses under the post, hoping it could be a hint that Madonna could be at the festival next year.
