Strong winds attract many kite surfers to the sea

With wind speeds of 5 Beaufort and waves up to one meter, it is one big party for kite surfers in Zeebrugge. The water is barely 9 degrees, but they still come from far away to go into the sea with their kite.

“That’s actually surfing with a large wind kite, with a kite as they call it. There are already different disciplines. I sail with a twin tip, that’s a board that I’m stuck in. There are people here who ride a wave board on the go to the water to play in the waves. Nowadays you already have people who go out to sea with a wing in their hands. So it is a very versatile sport and, as far as I am concerned, the most beautiful sport in the world,” says a kite surfer.

Hikers who brave the wind also got to see a beautiful spectacle today.
