Strong wind threatens to ruin New Year’s party: no fireworks in De Panne and Lommel, fireworks will continue as usual in Ghent and Brussels

In various cities in Flanders it has been a tradition for years to celebrate the New Year with a grand New Year’s fireworks. But this year the fireworks in De Panne and Lommel were already canceled due to heavy winds. In Middelkerke and Ostend it will be decided later in the day whether the fireworks can still go ahead. In the Netherlands too, fireworks were canceled in several places or even moved to yesterday due to the predicted wind. Despite the heavy wind, fireworks are still being lit in Ghent and Brussels.
