The concession, with an asking price of 75,000 euros, includes eleven yellow-red bath carts and a hundred sun beds and umbrellas. The municipality of De Panne confirms that all rules will be followed. “The colors and authentic wheels of the bath carts are retained,” says the municipality.
Not everyone sees great commercial added value in the acquisition. Bath car holder Stefaan Prosec responds soberly: “We can’t live from it. On bad days I hardly earn 100 euros. I don’t know how Plopsaland will tackle that, but I am glad that someone is coming.”
De Panne is the only coastal municipality that owns its entire beach. Of the 20 concessions available, 12 were taken this year. Eight lottery tickets remained without a candidate.
