Werder Bremen is preparing for the new season. For the time being, the Hanseatic pines have to do without a cornerstone.

Job news for Bundesliga club SV Werder Bremen: The club has to do without striker Marvin Ducksch for several weeks. As the North Germans announced late Tuesday afternoon, the attacker suffered a muscle injury in the first training session. This was the result of an MRI examination.

“This is bitter for us, but especially for Marvin, since he will miss important weeks in preparation. But we support him in the best possible way so that he can come back to the team as soon as possible,” Bremen’s new head coach Horst Steffen is quoted in the club announcement.

Most recently, it was speculated that Ducksch Bremen could leave before the start of the season. On Monday he was brought from the training ground with a golf cart shortly after the start. “It chipped in the calf, we have to see what comes out,” said Steffen.

The two -time international Ducksch has been playing for Werder since 2021. Last season he scored nine goals in 36 missions and prepared eleven more. Werder Bremen starts the new season with an away game at Eintracht Frankfurt on August 23 or 24.
