As a player, Ronaldo was able to celebrate great success. As the club director of Real Valladolid, this luck was not granted to him. Now he has made a decision.

Brazil’s former world -class striker Ronaldo has withdrawn from the Spanish club Real Valladolid. As the last table of the Primera División announced on Friday, the 47-year-old sold his shares. According to the club, the new owner is a North American investment company that is financially supported by a European fund. The sale still has to be approved by the Spanish sports authority.

Ronaldo acquired 51 percent of the club shares in September 2018 and had thus become the majority owner of the traditional association. After the descent into the second division and persistent criticism from the fan camp, he now fought consequences.

In the past few weeks, parts of the followers had openly asked the former world champion to resign. “Go home,” was one of the messages to Ronaldo. As early as 2022, he tried to modernize the Klubblogo after loud protests by fans.

Real Valladolid has to go to the Segunda División again after only one year – for the third time in the past four years. In the past, the club had succeeded in returning to the club. Whether this is also possible this time remains open.
