,,Willem II has formally terminated my expiring contract. So I don’t know yet what the future will bring. But that doesn’t matter now. Achieving enforcement, that’s all that matters at the moment.”
Bram van Polen, Zian Flemming, Bart Vriends and Michiel Kramer; they all indicate that they are confident that their clubs PEC, Fortuna, Sparta and RKC will remain in the Eredivisie. You will probably say that you see a gloomy outlook for Willem II?
“No, on the contrary. We also believe that we will make it. I think that should be the case in the situation we are in. If you no longer have any faith in it yourself… Besides, our faith is also based on something. We really think that we can take nine points from the next three matches (after Heracles, Cambuur-uit and FC Utrecht-home).”
How many more do you think you need to stay in the Premier League?
“Pooh. Given our lesser goal difference, we will in any case have to score one point more than Sparta and PEC. Well, let’s just bet on nine. Then we are sure.”
The mood is still very good in the Heerkens household?
,,Secure. It is not the first time, is it, that I fight against relegation with Willem II. I am very optimistic about our chances. We also showed against PSV on Sunday that we just have a great team. We really had the opportunity in Eindhoven to take a point or more with us.”
