The streetwear brand Staple will open its first flagship store in Shanghai and thus in Asia tomorrow, October 30, 2025.

“The journey continues – and this time worldwide. Visit our store and discover exclusive products, experience selected events and immerse yourself in the creative energy that has made Staple a global cult brand,” says the official website. “Whether you’re local or just passing through, consider this your new home,” the brand adds.

The new store is located at No. 538 Huaihai Road, Shanghai’s destination for luxury shopping. This shows that the brand wants to establish itself in the upper segment, as it combines streetwear influences with sophisticated elements of high-end fashion.

This isn’t Staple’s first time in Shanghai – just over a year ago, in September 2024, the brand opened a “Guerrilla Store” in the city. A five meter tall grape statue was part of the performance.

Staple pigeon greets visitors

Of course, the pigeon should not be missing in the new store – it cheekily broke through the outside wall and looks at the entrance. As soon as you enter the store, you can see her body surrounded by shelves of clothing and shoes from the men’s collection and smaller pigeon replicas. She also left a “souvenir” behind – a tongue-in-cheek reminder that you can’t tame city pigeons.

The interior of the store is decorated in the characteristic gray – with red accents through tables and comfortable sofas that invite you to linger. Wooden shelves and wall elements in the spacious changing rooms create a rustic flair.

The new store is the brand’s second flagship store – the first is located on Manhattan’s Lower East Side at 21 Mercer Street. A third store is planned in Hong Kong, but the brand has not yet announced any further details.

Staple was founded in 1997 by Jeff Staple (born Jeff Ng) as a small t-shirt label in New York City. The designer chose the street pigeon as his logo, which for him is a symbol of determination, resilience and originality – “the same qualities that characterize city life around the world”.
