Street in Purmerend again startled by violence: house shot at after fire bomb

Once again, residents of Rijnstraat in Purmerend have been startled by a violent attack on a home. A terraced house in the street was shot at last night. There was already one two months ago incendiary thrown against a house and an attack was committed with fireworks.

Police say no one was injured, but bullet holes were found in the house and shell casings were found on the street.

In September, deputy mayor Mario Hegger already decided to temporarily close a house on Rijnstraat. “We cannot guarantee that no new incidents will occur at the home,” he said at the time. Hegger made the decision to bring peace to the neighborhood.

Cause unclear

But that peace was short-lived. A police spokesman said the cause of the shooting was unknown. “We are investigating and are also looking at a possible connection between this incident and previous attacks in the same street,” she says RTV Purmerend know.
