HAMBURG (dpa-AFX) – Storm damage is slowing down traffic on several railway lines in Germany. The ICE route Hamburg-Berlin was closed in the evening. A railway spokesman said there was a tree on the track in Dergenthin, Brandenburg, between Ludwigslust and Wittenberge. That’s why the ICE trains are being held back.
Due to weather-related disruptions in Schleswig-Holstein, train traffic was severely affected, the DB announced on the Internet. “Please allow for an extension of travel time of up to 90 minutes.” The RE6 trains (Hamburg-Altona – Westerland (Sylt)) will therefore run at reduced speed – until probably 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning. Several regional trains in the north cannot travel their entire route.
Delays and diversions also in NRW
In parts of North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony there are also disruptions to local and regional transport due to storm damage, said the railway spokesman. There are often trees in the tracks.
On the Zuginfo.NRW portal, railway companies announced that there were weather-related disruptions due to squalls in parts of North Rhine-Westphalia. There are delays, partial and complete cancellations. In long-distance traffic, there were diversions and delays between Cologne and Aachen as well as Cologne and Düsseldorf, as a railway spokeswoman said.
The DWD had predicted stormy gusts or squalls for Monday from the west and southwest to the north./sck/DP/he
