Stockholm wants to organize Eurovision Song Contest in temporary concert hall | Eurovision Song Contest

Stockholm has plans to build a temporary concert hall for next year’s Eurovision Song Contest. The arena must be located in Frihamnen, the port area of the city, according to the Stockholm bid book held by the Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter.

The hall should accommodate 11,180 to 14,700 spectators. It is not known how high the costs are.

Stockholm is in the race with three other places to host the 2024 Eurovision song contest. Gothenburg, Malmö and Örnsköldsvik have also reported to Swedish broadcaster SVT. Eurovision organizer EBU reported last week that it wanted to announce the host city ‘in the summer’.

Stockholm hosted the Eurovision Song Contest three times before: in 1975, 2000 and 2016. During the last two editions, the Stockholm Globe Arena, now known as the Avicii Arena, was the venue. Malmö (1992, 2013) and Göteborg (1985) have also hosted the Eurovision song contest.
