Bus transport in Drenthe will no longer be restarted today. Carrier Qbuzz has decided this. “Based on the current conditions and the prospects, we have decided that it is not safe enough for our drivers and travelers,” says director Laurence Hovenkamp.
Initially, Qbuzz was scheduled to hit the road at nine o’clock this morning, but this was later adjusted to twelve o’clock. Hovenkamp: “A few hours ago we still had the hope of starting the timetable.” But because the temperature will drop again today and there is a risk of the road surface freezing and therefore slippery, society has now decided differently.
According to the director, it remains to be seen whether there will be driving again tomorrow. “From now on we will focus on tonight and tomorrow. We hope to start driving again, but we remain dependent on the circumstances.”
Arriva and NS are running fewer trains today. The NS is running according to the winter timetable today, which means that fewer trains are running. Travelers may therefore have to transfer more often and they may also spend longer on the road. The compartments may be busier than usual. According to the NS, this should reduce the risk that a delay on one train will have consequences for other journeys.
The three northern provinces are also ‘disconnected’ from the rest of the country. “Any disruptions in the northern provinces will then be limited to above Zwolle,” ProRail explains.
