The KNMI expects heavy wind gusts of 75 to 85 kilometers per hour in Drenthe. That is why code yellow has been issued until 4 p.m.
The wind is from the southwest. Traffic and other outdoor activities may be affected by the wind, according to the KNMI. At the end of the afternoon the strong gusts of wind disappear again. It won’t be windless, a moderate to fairly strong southwesterly wind will continue to blow through. The air remains mild and at the coldest moment it is still 8 degrees.
Code yellow did not initially apply to Drenthe, but to Groningen, Friesland, the Wadden Islands and the west. Later, the KNMI still warned for strong winds in our province.
