Still boiling water all weekend in Assen and Rolde

The source of the E.coli contamination is probably somewhere on the grounds of the Assen-Oost pumping station. But where exactly is still being investigated.

“Samples are being taken from the Rhine water cellars and from places in the periphery. They go to our drinking water laboratory. They are examined there and we have to wait and see. In the meantime, we have closed certain things so that any contamination does not get further into the network. “, says Vivienne Frankot, director of drinking water company WMD.

The bacteria came to light during a regular random check. “The E.coli bacteria should not be used here,” says Frankot. “So there has been contact with an animal or a human, or a drop of rainwater has entered somewhere. We don’t know where yet.”

The cause has not yet been found this afternoon. Frankot expects that completely safe water will not come out of the tap in Assen and Rolde again until Monday. “I cannot give any certainty, but I dare to assume that it will certainly have been found and resolved after the weekend.”
