Paul Stanley released a statement on his social media channels on April 30, criticizing parents who encourage their children to undergo gender reassignment surgery. The 71-year-old thinks that legal guardians would make the issue a “sad and dangerous fad”.
Musician and producer Steve Albini only had one short, disparaging comment for the KISS singer: “I remember when punk rock came along and first made you look old,” the 60-year-old wrote on Twitter.
I remember when punk rock came along and made you irrelevant the first time.

The Offspring’s Kevin “Noodles” Wassermann was also critical of Stanley’s statement. The guitarist was disappointed in the KISS member as Stanley himself wore “high heels, makeup and hair up throughout his career,” Wassermann wrote on Twitter. “As a young kid, your band taught me that I could be anything I want. I guess it was just talk after all,” he continued.
This is a very disappointing take, especially from someone who wore high-heels, makeup, & teased up hair in his whole career. As a young kid your band helped teach me that I could be whatever I wanted to be. I guess it was just gimmickry after all. #thatsashame

Paul Stanley made headlines last year when he, along with many others in the music industry, spoke out against Kanye West’s anti-Semitism. “Mental illness is an illness, but it should never diminish the dangers of hate speech, anti-Semitism, or anti-religious or ethnic violence. We have found many ways to allegedly justify this behavior and have witnessed the atrocities that ensued. Speak up,” he wrote, referring to West’s bipolar disorder.
