Things are going badly for Ajax. The defeats follow each other in rapid succession. Now the Amsterdam club is already out in the second round of the KNVB Cup. A humiliation, according to many.
FC Groningen also lost to an amateur club in the cup last season. In January they lost 3-2 to Spakenburg. “The most embarrassing match,” according to sports journalist Wim Masker. Yet the relegation to the Kitchen Champion Division will be the biggest defeat of the year for most FC Groningen supporters.
