Blau-Weiß Lohne caused a surprise in the final of the Lower Saxony state cup. The fourth division team won 4-2 (2-2) at the third division club VfL Osnabrück. Eintracht Norderstedt won the title in Hamburg.
Due to their success, the two amateur clubs secured a starting place in the first main round of the DFB Cup in the coming season-and a guaranteed income of almost 210,000 euros.
The regional league went into the game as an outsider, but did not play like one – on the contrary: the guests searched their way forward and were already in the lead after nine minutes. First Felix Schmieder made a completely unconditional manner from six meters (6th), then Theo Janotta also added head after a corner (9th).
Osnabrück compensates – Lohne puts on
Osnabrück needed a while to cope with the double strike, but then increased the pace in the heated game. Bryang Kayo scored the connection goal (29th) – and in the stoppage time of the first half, Marcus Müller Castle after a strong solo to 2: 2 (45.+4).
The game seemed to tip over, but Osnabrück could not add up and was punished for his careless defensive work for the third time. Nico Thoben headed Lohne again (63.). And then the VfL borrowed from VfL also met for Lohne (76th) – 4: 2 for the fourth division club, who was no longer able to take the success.
Norderstedt wins in the penalty shootout
There were no hits in the Hamburg Cup final in the regular season. A class difference between the regional league team Eintracht Norderstedt and Oberligist USC Paloma only became clear at the end of the first round.
Lucas Camacho had the best chance of the Norderstedter, but narrowly failed in the 43rd minute with his low shot. In the 69th minute, the offensive player took a flank ball directly that Palomas Tom Burmeister steered his own post – luck for the fifth league in this situation. On the other hand, however, the USC defender also had the greatest chance for his colors: after a corner kick, he promoted the ball just next to the Eintracht housing (81st).
It stayed with the goalless draw after 90 minutes, in the stadium on the Hoheluft we went into the penalty shootout. There, the favorite from Norderstedt was able to prevail 5: 4.
