According to media reports, Disney is said to have cast Abigail Thorn for the first time as a transgender person in a “Star Wars” project. The actress is being tapped for a role in the spinoff series The Acolytes, which will premiere on the Disney+ streaming service in 2024.

Who is Abigail Thorn?

Officially, neither Disney nor Thorn themselves have confirmed their participation in the series in the “Star Wars” universe. What is certain, however, is that “Logan – The Wolverine” actress Dafne Keen, Amandla Stenberg from “Bodies Bodies Bodies” and well-known actress Carrie-Anne Moss from the “Matrix” series will also star in “The Acolytes”.

“The Acolytes” will take place before the prequels, i.e. “Episode 1: The Phantom Menace”, and will highlight the era of the “High Republic”. Another prequel series from a galaxy far, far away is in production from Force Awakens director and Lost creator JJ Abrams. The “Rogue Squardon” film, which was announced for December 2023 and will be directed by Patty Jenkins (“Wonder Woman”), no longer has an official release date after the shooting date was postponed.
