The Black Crowes from Atlanta/Georgia are a blues rock band, formed in the 1990s, with ups and downs. In January 2015, guitarist and band co-founder Rich Robinson declared the joint project over. Reason: A broken internal relationship, there were also contractual and financial disputes.

Over four years later, in November 2019, then the role backwards. Brothers Rich and Chris Robertson announced their reunion on The Howard Stern Show. The following year they played concerts celebrating the 30th anniversary of their debut album, Shake Your Money Maker (1990). Now they are on tour again, this time in Australia.

Now, during the band’s concert in Melbourne last weekend (November 19-20), an incident happened on stage. As the Robinson brothers were intoning the hit “Stare It Cold,” a man rushed onto the stage and headed toward bassist Steve Pipien. Security personnel quickly intervened and attempted to escort the man off the stage. But he managed to break free.

At this point, Rich Robinson unbuckled his guitar and slammed it into the man’s chest. Chris Robinson smacked the man with his mic stand – and appeared to be in a ruckus, as seen in a fan video circulating around digital media:

Luckily, the intruder, who had previously been standing right by the stage ramp, was pushed out of the rampage zone before the incident could escalate any further.

Cool-faced, the Black Crowes continued their concert without further incident. This attack is just the latest example of a worrying trend. There have also been similar incidents of furious fans storming the stage at (hard & heavy) concerts by Rage Against the Machine, Lil Uzi Vert and Show Me the Body in recent months.
