The 1. FC Köln goes as second in the table. Against SV Darmstadt 98 it was also said by two Var interventions 2: 1 (1: 1) from a Cologne perspective.
It is quite unusual for a stadium speaker to comment on scenes in the game. On Saturday evening, Michael Trippel was no longer able to hold at the 1st FC Köln. When Fraser Hornby transformed the following penalty to the subsequent 1: 1 equalization, it drove out of the long-time stadium spokesman: “What are the rules?” The 70-year-old cried audibly before he said the goal scorer and the game.
Dominique Heintz had previously been headed by Fraser Hornby on the arm from a short distance. The big symptoms failed to materialize on Darmstadt, but referee Florian Issue was sent out to the screen by video assistant Pascal Müller. “If the hand control is unfortunately the way it is, the referees are stopped to point to the point,” said the cause afterwards.
For Heintz himself, however, it was not a penalty from a distance. “I run backwards and go up to the header. I think that the arm is not so high that I say it is too far away. He heads me from a few centimeters, nobody complained in the stadium.”
The goal scorer, who equalized the early 1-0 by Jan Thielmann after 47 seconds, was the focus again in the second round. After a yellow card for complaining, Hornby went on the sideline with an open sole into the duel with Jusuf Gazibegovic and risked a serious injury to the Cologne. Accordingly, the issue pulls out the second yellow card for the attacker, which means that Darmstadt subsequently had to play outnumbered for half an hour.
With a second intervention by the Var in the 80th minute after a foul by Isac Lidberg to Timo Hübers, the booklet again decided on the penalty. This time, however, the Cologne team were beneficiaries, Luca Waldschmidt converted the due penalty to the 2-1 victory and thus became a match winner after the 1-0 win in Ulm.
Luca Waldschmidt: “The two victories were now very important. In the first half it was tough, in the second half we only missed the 2-1 earlier, and then to make the decision with the 3-1. A lot of trust in me.
Jan Thielmann: “We would have had to score a goal in the end, then we would have been quiet. Fortunately, we also brought it through and had an outstanding Marvin Schwäbe in the goal. We are a good pressing team and can start well. We know that we can put the opponent under pressure. In the 1: 0, where a striker has to be in such a situation. Then it was easy in front of the goal. We didn’t have the solutions.
Dominique Heintz: “In the eight minutes of added time, I felt reminded of Leverkusen. We had to work a lot. We got into the game for the first 15 minutes, made the goal through Jan right away. Then the referee took the game a bit, I think. After the 1-1, we were difficult. In the second half it was better, we changed in the ball. Of course, the yellow-red card was good for ourselves. After the 2-1 we could have ended the game earlier, we had three or four huge opportunities for 3: 1 – we just have to get better. “
