Bruce Springsteen will kick this week The very first time in Liverpool, England – the birthplace of the Beatles. Understandably, Paul McCartney came on stage on Saturday to support the E Street Band with a few songs.

Paul McCartney as a surprise guest in Liverpool

Springsteens marked the first concert in Liverpool on Wednesday. It was an appearance without a Beatles cover. On Saturday, the boss returned to the city of the city, and it was initially a rather experienced e-street show. Until the encore, as Springsteen and Co. McCartney brought onto the stage.

“Thank you, Liverpool. You are lucky tonight, we have a young man here, a young man from Liverpool who will play with us tonight. I think he has a lot of talent. And I think he will bring it a long way,” joked Springsteen at his announcement. “So let Paul McCartney bring us to the stage.”

McCartney initially took the lead at a version of the FAB Four classic “Can’t Buy Me Love”. It was the first time that Springsteen and the E Street Band played this song live. Followed by a version of Little Willie Littlefield’s “Kansas City”, who became popular by Little Richard and later by the Beatles on Beatles for Sale.

Earlier joint appearances by Springsteen & McCartney

The two rock legends have been on stage several times in the past twelve years. In July 2012 in the London Hyde Park and again in September 2017 in the Madison Square Garden in New York. Both times they played “I saw from standing there”.

They also appeared together in June 2022 while McCartney’s concert in East Rutherford, New Jersey. They played the Beatles song “I Wanna Be Your Man” and Springsteen’s own song “Glory Days”. And finally-most recently-a week later during McCartney’s headliner set at the Glastonbury Festival.

Next stop: Berlin – McCartney currently without tour plans

Based on the journey of the Beatles from Liverpool to Germany, the European Tour of Springsteen and the E Street Band leads next to Berlin-on June 11th. McCartney, who played a Residency in the small Bowery Ballroom in New York in February, currently has no tour dates on the calendar for 2025.
