Due to a WDR strike, the “Sportschau” will be broadcast from a different TV studio on Saturday. Fans can still look forward to the usual reporting.

The WDR is at a standstill – since Thursday, the DJV, ver.di and Unisono unions have called for a five-day strike that is scheduled to last until Tuesday morning at 2 a.m. Numerous programs are affected, including the Bundesliga “Sportschau” on Saturday evening.

In order to secure the broadcast of the show, WDR has found an unusual solution: the popular show will be broadcast from an RTL studio in Cologne-Deutz. “In order to ensure that the ‘Sportschau’ runs and broadcasts as usual despite the strike, WDR has moved the production to an RTL studio as a precautionary measure,” a WDR spokeswoman told DWDL.de.

According to WDR, the studio where NFL games are usually produced offers a familiar look. “The studio will have a normal ‘sports show’ feel. Basically, the colleagues who are not striking are doing everything they can to produce good programs on TV, online and on the radio – with as few noticeable effects of the strike on the audience as possible.” , the spokeswoman continued.
