The Sporthaus Wohlleben from Dörfles-Esbach near Coburg now has to close. As the provisional insolvency administrator, Pluta Rechtsanwalts GmbH, reports, no investor solution could be realized. “We have had numerous discussions over the past few months to find an investor solution,” explains lawyer Peter Roeger. “Unfortunately, the last remaining interested party has canceled. No investor is willing to take over the sports store. Therefore, we can only continue operations until the end of February 2026.”
The preliminary insolvency proceedings were filed with the Coburg District Court in October 2025. The business operations of the stationary store and the online shop have continued to run without restrictions. Now the company has to close on March 1st. Sporthaus Wohlleben employs around 40 people who have been informed about current developments. All employees must be terminated.
Declining willingness to buy, ongoing price pressure and rising costs are cited as reasons for the economic difficulties. A fire in 2024 also made the financial situation significantly worse.
