Ivorian should extend

Liverpool FC is apparently serious about courting winger Yan Diomande and RB Leipzig is responding confidently. As “Sky” and Fabrizio Romano unanimously report, the Reds have submitted an offer of 100 million euros including bonuses for the 19-year-old Ivorian World Cup driver to Dinge – 90 million of which as a base transfer fee. According to the pay-TV broadcaster, the Red Bulls have not yet responded, but it is to be expected that the offer will be rejected. According to Romano, that’s exactly what has already happened.

Leipzig would prefer not to let go of the shooting star of the last Bundesliga season – who, among other things, saw a market value increase from 1.5 million to 90 million euros. Rather, the contract with Diomande, which runs until 2030, should be extended, significantly adjusted in terms of salary and given a high exit clause. Meanwhile, Romano writes that a transfer fee of 120 million euros could possibly be enough to convince RB.
This sum would make Diomande the eleventh most expensive transfer in football history. Antoine Griezmann also cost 120 million euros when he moved to FC Barcelona, and Eden Hazard cost 800,000 euros more (including bonuses) when he moved to Real Madrid in the same year. The most expensive Bundesliga departures in history are Ousmane Dembélé (from Borussia Dortmund to Barcelona in 2017/18 for 148 million euros including bonuses), Jude Bellingham (from BVB to Real in 2023/24 for 127 million euros including bonuses) and Florian Wirtz (from Bayer Leverkusen to Liverpool in 2025/26 for 125 million euros excluding bonuses).
It is to be expected that in addition to Liverpool, other clubs will enter the race for Diomande – such as Paris Saint-Germain. The Ivorian was on the field for over 90 minutes in the successful World Cup opener against Ecuador (1-0) and is likely to do the same against Germany on Saturday. Diomande scored 13 goals and ten assists in 36 games for Leipzig.
