Water polo international Winkelhorst returns to the Netherlands
8.02 pm: Jorn Winkelhorst returns to the Netherlands. The 30-year-old midfielder of Orange will play for GZC Donk in Gouda. For the past six years, Winkelhorst was under contract with the German club Waspo Hannover.
“I had six fantastic years at Waspo. We’ve won a lot of awards, but I’ve also made a lot of friends. The club has always been very good to me and my family. Now that my oldest son has to go to primary school, we want to go back to the Netherlands. I have spoken with several Dutch clubs, but the overall picture of GZC Donk, in combination with the Dutch team, appealed to me the most. I hope I can contribute to new successes for the club.”
Winkelhorst was four times national champion with Waspo Hannover. He also reached the last eight of the Champions League three times with the club.
Two Auxerre footballers injured in Saint-Étienne riots
11:25 am Two footballers of the French club Auxerre were slightly injured during the riots that arose after the won promotion match with Saint-Étienne. Several hundred supporters of home club Saint-Étienne stormed onto the field after Auxerre had won via penalties. The supporters threw fireworks and torches at the footballers, who fled to the changing rooms.
The field stormers also threw a lot of fireworks at the audience in the main stand of the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard. Saint-Étienne, ten-time national champion and thus the record holder in the French league together with Paris Saint-Germain, was relegated to Ligue 2 due to the defeat. Auxerre forced promotion to the highest division.
According to the authorities, two Auxerre players suffered minor injuries. It is not known who it is. In addition, at least seventeen spectators and fourteen police officers were slightly injured.
Saint-Étienne said in a statement that it “strongly condemns” the riots and wants to prosecute the perpetrators. “Despite the efforts of nearly five hundred officers, many supporters stormed the field after the final whistle. Some engaged in violence against players, security guards, officers and the public.”
In the Dutch football competition, supporters of ADO Den Haag entered the field on Sunday after the duel with Excelsior was lost via penalties for promotion to the Eredivisie. Orange meets for the first four matches in Nations League

Basketball players Boston Celtics back in NBA final after twelve years

The basketball players from Boston won the decisive seventh game 100-96 in the best-of-seven series against the Miami Heat. The Celtics will now compete with the Golden State Warriors for the championship in the American top league.
The Boston Celtics won the NBA championship 17 times, making it the record holder along with the Los Angeles Lakers. However, the last title dates from 2008. Two years later, the team reached the final one more time, in which the Lakers won 4-3. In the past five years, the Celtics have made it to the Eastern Conference finals three times, but each failed to advance to the overall NBA finals.
The Warriors previously took the title in the west by beating the Dallas Mavericks 4-1. In the east, the tension was much greater. The Miami Heat lost a lead twice in the series against the Boston Celtics, after which the Celtics came on ‘match point’ with a win of game five. The Florida club, however, tied the score again in Boston, so that everything came to the final game in Miami on Sunday evening.
The Boston Celtics took a big lead in the first quarter and did not relinquish it, although the Miami Heat came very close in the final phase. With less than 17 seconds on the clock and a score of 98-96, Jimmy Butler had a chance to give the Florida club the lead, but his attempt at a three-pointer ended up at the front of the ring. “It’s fantastic that we have finally taken this bump,” Tatum said of reaching the grand final. “Few people believed in us. We’ve taken the toughest route, but we’re here.” The Celtics also defeated the 2021 champions Milwaukee Bucks 4-3 in the previous round.
