Sport Conrad starts second-hand program Nomoi

After a successful pilot phase, outdoor retailer Sport Conrad started a second-hand program called Nomoi (Bavarian for “again”) for mountain sports clothing in good condition.

A test phase began on November 19, 2022 at the start of the “Wir Denken Um” week, which was launched in 2018 and is Sport Conrad’s answer to Black Friday. During this period, customers could have their products serviced or repaired or hand in second-hand goods from the Patagonia, Ortovox, Maloja and Norrøna brands in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen branch.

At the end of the pilot project on December 3, 2022, Sport Conrad collected over 160 items of clothing for adults and children such as hard shell jackets, fleece and down jackets, down vests and outdoor pants.

Good reception of the second-hand program

From December 10th, Sport Conrad offered second-hand goods in the branch for the first time as part of the Nomoi program and sold most of the parts within the first two days.

“We have been toying with the idea of including second hand in our business concept for some time. Because it is clear to us: We have to set many levers in motion to switch from a linear to a circular business model,” comments Managing Director Hans Conrad in a press release.

Now Nomoi is to be expanded: “With Nomoi we have taken another important step – initially as a pilot project and limited to the Garmisch-Partenkirchen branch and selected brands. From 2023 we will establish Nomoi in our three stores and expand to other brands,” confirms Conrad.

Second round from January 9th

From January 9th, the second-hand program will also continue in the branches in Penzberg and Wielenbach. Until January 21, customers can hand in used clothing in good condition for children and adults from the Ortovox, Patagonia, Maloja, Norrøna, Peak Performance, Dynafit, Salewa, Vaude and Arc’teryx brands.

The next Nomoi sale will then run from January 23 to 28, 2023 in all three branches and sellers will receive a voucher for 80 percent of the agreed sales price if the goods they have sold find new buyers.

Nomoi is limited exclusively to stationary trade in order to minimize the logistical effort and emissions. Sport Conrad donates one percent of the Nomoi net sales to climate and nature conservation: The amount goes equally to the organizations Protect Our Winters (POW) and KlimaAlps.

In the long term, Sport Conrad has set itself the ambitious goal of being “the most sustainable outdoor retailer in the alpine region with alpine products”. Nomoi is part of these initiatives and a symbol against the throwaway society.
