Splinter Chabot is acting very funny all the time with his crazy outfits and cool glasses, but TV authority Tina Nijkamp is unable to laugh. She is angry about his very expensive Binnenhof items.

The renovation of the Binnenhof, the oldest parliament complex in Europe that still serves as such, is in full swing and the costs are really spiraling out of control. How appropriate it is that the NPO is now making a program about this, the costs of which are also completely out of control. The presenter on duty? Splinter Chabot.

‘Adds nothing!’

Splinter is making a program series in which we can follow the renovation closely, namely Meanwhile at the Hofvijver, but that is Tina Nijkamp’s absolute waste of money. The program has been running for years and the twelfth episode was broadcast this month, but according to the TV authority it really adds nothing at all.

Not only are the viewing figures low, but according to Tina it also offers no new perspectives in terms of content. “One of the most megalomaniac NPO projects is Tussen aan de Hofvijver. That is a whole series with Splinter Chabot about the renovation of the Binnenhof,” she writes on her analysis channel.

Ten shooting days

A lot of money is being put into it, says Tina. “There are no fewer than ten (!!!) shooting days per episode and because the renovation will take years and much longer than expected, we are still a long way from finishing this series in which we see EXACTLY the same thing every episode: construction workers drilling into a wall.”

It is also not viewed well, she continues. “182 thousand viewers. I would have just shot this with an iPhone and then turned it into one documentary in a few years. Instead, already twelve episodes!!!! That’s 120 shooting days. What a lot of money.”
