Electronic speed control eyes are multiplying in the capital’s high-risk streets. The plan includes a total of 60 speed cameras, some close to activation, another 13 in the first part of 2026
The plan proceeds road safety on the main arteries of Rome: the December 15, 2025 will be definitively activated i new speed camerasinstalled in the summer and tested in the following weeks. The new speed detectors, which also include the average speed tutors installed on the Via del Mareare part of the road safety plan launched by the Capitoline administration, which also provides for the extension of the so-called “Zone 30” – an urban area with a speed limit set at 30 km per hour – within the historic center as well as on some sensitive areas or roads (near schools, hospitals, etc.). The plan includes a total of sixty new speed cameras, including those already indicated, and 38 T-Red devices that will ensure compliance with the traffic lights at the most dangerous intersections.

In 2026 they should be 13 new speed cameras to guard high-traffic roads such as France Course, Via Flaminia, Via Leone XIII And Via Cristoforo Colombo. On the artery that connects the city to the sea, the Municipality plans to add six speed cameras, in addition to those already present in the initial stretch. The first couple will be near Via Laurentina and Viale dell’Umanesimo, the second near Largo Fochetti and the Ardeatina ring road. Speed will also be controlled between Corso Francia and Via Flaminia, where three speed cameras will be installed in both directions, to monitor the most dangerous sections which have already been the scene of numerous tragic accidents. Electronic eyes also arriving in both directions of Via Leone XIII, the straight road that divides Villa Pamphili to join the Aurelio and Gianicolense districts.
