The call was received by the Ostend fire brigade shortly before noon. The driver of the car was able to park it just in the hard shoulder about a hundred meters before the Kennedy roundabout along the A10 in Ostend. All passengers got out on time. The man tried to put out the fire himself, but the fire was too intense.
When the firemen arrived, the car was already ablaze. They were able to extinguish the fire quickly. During the works, traffic along the highway had to pass over one lane for a while. The cause of the fire is not yet known, but it may be due to a technical defect.
