Spectacular accident in Waardamme: driver on the run
On Friday evening around 11 p.m., a car was hit from behind on the E403 near Waardamme (Oostkamp). He ended up on his roof in the canal. The passenger was able to crawl out of the vehicle under his own power. The driver, on the other hand, was trapped.
The fire brigade was on the job for 45 minutes to free him from his predicament. He remained conscious the entire time, but was taken to hospital with a back injury.
On the run
Unlike the occupants of the first car, the driver could easily leave his vehicle. Immediately after the accident, however, he fled into the forest. Police carried out a search on the spot, but turned up nothing. In the meantime, the man is further tracked down.
