The Special Olympics World Summer Games, which Germany will host for the first time, will start tomorrow with a grand opening ceremony. 7 thousand athletes and an average of 300 thousand visitors from 190 countries participating in the Special Olympics World Summer Games will take their place in the opening ceremony to be held at the Berlin Olympic Stadium. Between 12-15 June, 19 countries traveling to the Berlin 2023 Special Olympics World Games were hosted in the ‘Host Cities’ throughout Germany.
The Special Olympics Turkey Team, which will participate in the Special Olympics World Summer Games to be held in Berlin, Germany, went to Germany on 12 June. Nationals, who were welcomed in Stralsund, Germany, participated in various cultural trips and entertaining activities within the scope of the ‘Host Cities’ program organized by Germany. After the program, which was carried out to adapt the athletes to the country before the World Summer Games, the crescent-stars left Stralsund, Germany, to go to Berlin.
Special Olympics Turkey Team participated in the World Summer Games for the first time in 1983. Participating in 10 times in total in the history of the World Summer Games, the nationals achieved various successes with their special athletes. Special Olympics Turkey will participate in the 16th World Summer Games for the 11th time. Turkey will compete with 11 athletes, 4 women and 7 men, in 3×3 mixed basketball, mixed bocce, swimming and athletics branches.
