Sparks flew between birth photographer Jessica and midwife Loïs during a delivery

It was early in the morning when midwife Loïs Witmond of ‘OERKRACHT Devoted Verloskunde’ helped a woman from Zoetermeer to give birth to her baby. Birth photographer Jessica Innemee from VI-Photography was also on hand to capture this intimate event. When Loïs said goodbye to the brand new family after a few hours, she put her arm around Jessica. The two looked at each other and sparks flew.

As soon as Jessica and Loïs are together, love crackles between the two. They have been together for a year now and will soon be getting married: “I can’t go a day without her,” says Loïs.

An attractive appearance

Loïs was married and had a midwifery practice in Scheveningen. “I had only just started my practice and I wanted photos for the website,” says Loïs. “I wanted to ask Jessica but I was hesitant, because she is well known as a birth photographer in our world. But she wanted to come over and photograph a pregnant friend of mine. I know I was very nervous before that appointment. Both for the photos and for meeting her. I found her attractive.”

Something had also been stirred up with Jessica, who was still married at the time. “We saw each other again after this birth. I thought Lois looked even more attractive, with her hair in a bun and no make-up, just like herself. She just got out of bed.”

Loïs is remarkably often in the picture

Jessica immediately grabbed her camera and took beautiful pictures of the mother, who was in the bath with her baby who was only a few minutes old. “Every time my attention was drawn to Loïs,” says Jessica. “I found her so powerful in her role as a midwife. Her look and way of talking change during her work. She is clear and loving in her communication and guidance. After the report, it turned out that, in addition to the photos for my client, I had also photographed her remarkably often.”

Each time my attention went to Loïs

Sparks flew

While the new mother took a shower, Jessica and Loïs had some time and cleaned up the house together. “Two hours after giving birth, I still have a lot of work to do,” says Loïs. “I was always distracted by the presence of Jessica. I noticed that she liked that I was close by and that she contacted her.” The maternity nurse, who at that moment went downstairs to see how far we were, perhaps realized even faster that sparks flew between us than we did.”

Marriage proposal in the woods

In just three months, life looked completely different for the two. On May 27, Jessica proposed to Loïs. She lured Loïs into a forest and set her camera to film mode. On her knees she proposed to her. “We stood there in our leggings, among the ferns, in a magical place, just as we are,” says Jessica.

Zoetermeer is a nice city

Within a short time Loïs feels completely at home in Zoetermeer, and she also moved her midwifery practice directly from Scheveningen to Zoetermeer. “It’s a nice city where Jessica and I can be completely ourselves. I also click with the pregnant women in Zoetermeer. It is also nice and special for us that we are a match both privately and professionally. Jessica is often present at one of the four births that I supervise on average per month. We complement each other perfectly in every way.”
