The traditional Mallorcan brand Carmina Shoemaker specializes in the handcrafted production of shoes for men and women. The company will continue to expand its international presence in 2026. The aim is to open two new sales outlets outside of Spain, in the cities of Tokyo and Munich.
First store in Germany
Carmina plans to open its first store in Munich and therefore also in Germany before the end of 2026. Further details about this location have not yet been announced.
Carmina Shoemaker distributes its collections through a select network of multi-brand stores in 15 countries. There are a total of five authorized dealers in Germany. These stores are located in Hamburg, Stuttgart, Berlin and Munich. With the new location in Munich, Carmina now wants to strengthen its own, growing branch network in Germany.
In Japan, the brand sells its products in Japan through a carefully selected number of multi-brand stores. These include the Trading Post chain and the department stores that still operate under the name of the US department store Barneys New York.
Back in October, Carmina Shoemaker announced that it would be expanding into Japan by opening its own store in the capital Tokyo. The opening was originally planned for the last quarter of 2025. This date was later postponed to the end of May this year. However, neither the opening nor a specific date for the brand’s first store in Japan has been confirmed yet.
Regardless of these delays, Carmina Shoemaker assures that the store will open soon. The historic Mallorcan company is already advertising its “imminent” opening in Tokyo. Carmina Shoemaker specifies that the brand will open its first store in Marunouchi. The district is “one of the most elegant in the city,” where Japanese lovers of handcrafted shoes will find “a new home for the craftsmanship.”
Two to three openings annually until 2030
The 2026 openings are part of Carmina Shoemaker’s strategic growth plan. The Mallorcan brand plans to open two to three new stores every year until 2030. These new sales outlets will be created in strategic markets. This includes both North and South America, as the United States is the company’s main market, and, in particular, Central Europe. In this region, Carmina focuses particularly on the Swiss and German markets.
These openings follow expansion in recent years. In 2025, the brand opened two new dedicated stores in London and Luxembourg, in line with its 2030 strategy. The company currently has a network of nine stores in total. These are located in Inca, Palma de Mallorca, Madrid, Paris, Barcelona, New York, San Francisco, London and Luxembourg.
With the planned openings in Tokyo and Munich this year, the number is expected to rise to eleven. On a business level, these locations strengthen the direct sales channel. This accounts for more than 80 percent of total sales.
