Spanish police arrest man who put hand on journalist’s buttocks | Abroad

Spanish police have arrested a man in Madrid for placing his hand on a journalist’s buttocks during a live TV broadcast. The police announced this on Tuesday.

“A man has been arrested for sexual aggression against a reporter while she was doing a live broadcast on #Madrid television,” police announced on the social network X, formerly Twitter. It showed a handcuffed man who was accompanied by two officers.

The polemic started on Tuesday afternoon, when the television channel Cuatro broadcast a live report from the journalist, who reported on a robbery in a Madrid street. While she was holding her microphone, a man came up behind her and placed his hand on her buttocks. The young woman asked him to let her work.

In the studio, the presenter, a colleague of the journalist, intervened: “Excuse me, Isa, I interrupt you, but did he put a hand on your buttocks?” He then demanded to speak to the man in question: “Pass me that idiot,” he said.

Idiot

The journalist confirmed and turned to the man again, telling him to let her work. The camera then showed the man, wearing sunglasses, denying touching her buttocks but stroking her hair again before leaving.

The young woman then apologized to the camera. Whereupon the presenter stated in the studio that she did not have to apologize for anything “We filmed it (…). You don’t have to apologize for anything. You do your job and then that idiot comes along and touches your buttocks live,” the man said.

The television station announced on its website that it had called the police before the incident. He was later able to arrest the man.
