Spanish athlete Alba Cebrián dies at just 23 years old

Sad news from Spain: Runner Alba Cebrián died during training. The reason was a cardiac arrest.

The Spanish athlete Alba Cebrián is dead. She died on Monday in the intensive care unit of the hospital in Villarreal after suffering a cardiac arrest during training the previous Thursday. This is reported by several Spanish media.

After the athlete’s heart stopped beating during the training session, a doctor who happened to be present immediately provided first aid. Thanks to a heart massage, the organ began to beat again and Cebrián was taken to the hospital, where she ultimately died.

The athlete’s club, Atletismo Celtíberas de Soria, wrote about the tragedy: “All of us who belong to the Celtíberas de Soria Athletics Club are devastated to have to announce the death of our colleague Alba Cebrián Chiva. We will love you Always remember, Alba.”

Alba Cebrián’s specialty was the 3,000 meter steeplechase. At this distance she was one of the best athletes in Spain. She also regularly competed in the 1,500 meters.
