Spain facilitates the departure of refugees by easing restrictions on flying

Government maneuver to facilitate the exit of refugees from Ukraine fleeing the conflict zone after the military invasion undertaken by Russia. The airlines have received the official order to allow Ukrainian citizens to fly from nearby countries without the need to present all the documentation of the prior health checks required as part of the strategy against the covid pandemic.

The Ministry of Health has exceptionally modified these requirements and the Aviation Safety Agency (AESA), dependent on the Ministry of Transport, has already transmitted the new regulations to airlines for simplify procedures for Ukrainian citizens displaced by the military offensive, as confirmed to The Newspaper of Spain various sources in the airline industry.

The anticovid health control protocol of Spain establishes that citizens from the vast majority of countries (also from most of the states of the European Union) must present a health control form and a QR code from Spain Travel Health (SpTH) to present it before boarding and at the health controls upon arrival in Spain, and with which they must show they have the vaccination certificate, a negative diagnostic test or the recovery certificate.

The specific regulation for Ukrainian refugees now established by the Government eliminates the requirement to have all this documentation before boarding the plane and delays carrying out mandatory health checks and the necessary diagnostic tests upon arrival in the country at the time of landing.
