“We are currently conducting all the research necessary to create the plan that will allow us to enter the market,” a municipal spokesperson said. “We hope that sales can start in March and that the final plan will be ready in the autumn.” The aim is to have the first shovel in the ground by early 2027.
The plans were recently presented to local residents, which attracted 100 to 150 people. According to Gerrit Kok, chairman of Stadskern Emmer Centrum, the response to the project was mainly positive. “At the corner of Klokkenslag-Van Schaikweg, local residents had some difficulty with the height of the buildings in connection with the view. This was communicated to the municipality. But otherwise everyone is generally happy with it.
The location was recently in the news due to noise pollution from racing cars on the site. “Experience is that the police check there more often and also speak to young people on the site.” According to Kok, the municipality has also been asked whether it is possible to close the site in the evenings. “For example, by means of barriers.” According to Kok, there is no clarity about this yet.
Inquiries with the municipality reveal that this step is no longer being taken. “In view of the plans, this is not an obvious measure,” a spokesperson responds. “Because it involves a significant investment for a relatively short period. That is why we continue to focus on additional checks.”
